Unique New Worship Opportunity

Try something new! Gather with fellow online worshipers at 10:00am each Sunday morning via Zoom, where you can see, hear, and speak to the other Zoom Fellowship participants. When the YouTube Livestream begins at 10:15am, your experience is exactly like you’ve always enjoyed, with several enhanced experiences:

  • You can pass the peace with other Zoom Fellowship participants, while still being able to see the in-person worshipers doing the same.

  • When special congregational involvement activities are involved, you can participate in those activities with other Zoom Fellowship participants.

  • After the Livestream has concluded, you can virtually join coffee time in Collins Hall and visit with in-person parishioners.

Background

For more than a year now, the Congregational Care Committee has strived to find ways to enhance the care FUMC PDX provides to its online worshipers. Motivated by the Zoom-enhanced service in Collins Hall on July 19, the Care Team began testing the possibility of incorporating a Zoom-enhanced component into every 10:30am Sunday service. Harvey Carruth, a member of both the Care Team and the Tech Team, has volunteered to serve as Trail Boss for this effort, and results from several off-line and live tests have been extremely positive.

If you are an experienced Zoom meeting attender: Jump right in! Just let Harvey know and he will put you on the list to receive invitations to Zoom Fellowship each week.

If you have participated in a few Zoom meetings but might need some help: Contact Harvey and he will set up a personal Zoom meeting with you and guide you through the process.

If you have never participated in a Zoom meeting: Contact Harvey and he will arrange to meet with you and get you started:

  • Via personal visit, if you live in the Portland metropolitan area; or

  • Via email otherwise, through which he will provide guidance using basic tutorial materials.
