First Church’s mission is to advocate for peace and social justice, both in our local community and the World. Our Church & Society Ministry Team focuses primarily on the local community, addressing basic needs — homelessness, hunger and poverty — and advocating for the fundamental human rights and dignity of all members of our community.

Food, clothing and other essential needs drives to be donated to vulnerable members of the Portland Community

• Provide Dental treatment to those in the community without access by hosting Medical Teams International Dental Van every other month

• Sponsor social justice forums to illuminate current societal issues 

• Help distribute household goods to families recovering from homelessness

• Fund annual paid summer internships for work in community service
