Worship
Worship is at the center of the life of Portland's First Church. Each Sunday we come together ... from toddlers to seniors ... to lift our hearts in praise and find strength for the journey. Each week uplifting music is provided by the renowned organist, Jonas Nordwall and the Chancel Choir under the direction of Gary St. John. The lay leaders and the pastoral staff offer thoughtful prayers, an engaging children's time, and solid Biblical messages to challenge and inspire. The time is enhanced by special offerings by bell choirs, as well as children and youth choral groups.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered the first Sunday of each month. If you are interested in having a wedding or a baptism at First Church, please contact the church office at: 503/228-3195.
Special seasonal services are offered throughout the year, including: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and two services on Easter morning.
